Team Challenge fun!

I know I go on about the colour coordination of DSP, cardstock and ink and why it  is one of the many reasons I love Stampin’ up! In the catalogue a lot of the stamp sets come as a suite, meaning the stamp set’s have matching framelits or thinlits, DSP, A4 card pack and sometimes ribbon as well! Because the DSP comes with gorgeous colours it’s hard to actually step outside the box and try and create something not using the paper at all!  So I challenged my team to step outside their comfort zone and make something not using the colours  from the DSP!

And this is exactly what I did! I love how this turned out, I love the black, gold and white I find it such a striking combination!

Here I have embossed the sentiment with gold embossing powder, remember to use your embossing buddy first as the stray gold speckle will show up on your black cardstock! I then cut out 2 pieces of specialty paper from the Pop of Pink specialty DSP pack and cut the bows from the Gold foil paper! So simple yet so stunning, well I think so anyway lol!

What do you think? Have you made any cards lately without using the colours from the coordinating DSP packs?

Thanks for stopping by

#GDP072 – CASEing Krista Frattin

#GDP072

This week over at the Global Design Project they are challenging us to get our inspiration from Krista Frattin from Stampin’ Dolce.  Do I hear you asking what case means?

Well the definition of CASE is Copy And Share Everything
In simple terms, we get our inspiration from many sources but sometimes a particular project or creation really appeals to us so we copy it but change it up a little . So for this challenge we can use any element, it might be the colours, the stamp set, the layout or a combination of the elements.

So this is what we are working with

There is so much that I adore in this card, it’s nice and simple but soft at the same time, I really like the colourings used as well as the layout! This is what I came up with…

What do you think? Yes I know I went back to the Special Reason stamp set but I really do like it lol!

This card was so fun to make as I got to do some solid stamp watercolouring again {which we are learning in technique class on Monday night, there’s still some spots if you’d like to join us RSVP here or in my side bar} Once I had coloured the flower and leaves in I cut them out with the matching thinlit. I edged my DSP and wrapped the ribbon and linen thread around it and adhered it to the cardbase. I then stamped my sentiment and cut out the square with the Stitched shape Framelits. I think it’s pretty cute…..thoughts?  What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by,

Global Design Project Sketch challenge #GDP062

I’m getting into the swing of crafting again, still a little slow to start so for inspiration last night I decided to play along with the Global Design Project sketch challenge #GDP062…..{It’s my first time playing along! So go gentle on me}

This is the sketch that they had up, easy you say??

gdp062-sketch

This is what I came up with, I still had the gorgeous Paisleys and Posies out on my desk actually I had a lot of stuff still out lol! My room looked a little like this! I always seem to end up crafting in a very tiny space in the middle of a big mess!

room

Anyway I digress, this is the card I came up with! I used Bermuda Bay, Smokey Slate and Basic Black. I really do love that colour combo! If I was super clever I’d do a schmick little thing up with the colour samples but I’m not so you will just have to imagine it lol!!

paisley-gdp062

It must have passed muster as the girl child has already come down and claimed it for the birthday party she is attending this afternoon lol!

I’m thinking my photography skills might be getting a little better or it might be the fact I actually used my camera. I also made a Christmas card using the same sketch but I might save that to share tomorrow or another time!

Enjoy your weekend everyone!

My bestest mate dating back to highschool and her hubby have taken out the kids to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary so hubby and I are home alone! It’s a very unusual and I feel kinda lost to be honest. Can you tell it doesn’t happen very often!! I hope they are having a lovely day.

Anywho you came here to check out my card didn’t you? Well Keesh has set us a great colour challenge this week.

makeesha2

Here you have it, how nice are these colours?? I had something in my mind as soon as I saw it but for some reason the image in my brain did not seem to make it to the paper!

But here is what I came up with anyway!

challenge-32

What do you think? How do you think I could improve it? Would love to hear what you think!

Right I’m off to go and check out some new lounges, tiles and various other things for when the reno starts.

Challenges x 2

Well amongst all the school holiday fun and getting ready for retreat in August I have had some time to sit down and create a few cards!! I really haven’t had time in ages to create just for creatings sake that  I found my mojo had disappeared….whoosh just gone completely! So I jumped on Keesha’s site to find out what challenge she has going at the moment!  Even though she is a million miles away in Canada she doesn’t disappoint!

She had a colour challenge going and check out these colours!! They are my colours if I do say so myself!!

makeesha-colour-challenge-30-1

I thought I would challenge myself a little more and try and use some of the stamp sets that are on special at the moment and no doubt haven’t seen ink in a very long time or never!! Can you guess which one has never ever had ink on it!!! Click here to check out which other stamp sets have been discounted this month.

bird

Here is my first card! I wasn’t overly happy with how it turned out which is why i decided to try again….I was really struggling not using the Cottage Wall DSP and cottage garden stamp set!! I lurve them both so much!!

rose

And here is my second card. I have cased the layout (sort of) from Teneale I didn’t have a really nice saying to pop on the oval so I had to work with what I had…..bear in mind it was about half one in the morning as I was stamping this bit! If it was earlier I would have done it again and stamped it a little lower. Again I’m not completely happy with how this turned out but I was really happy to have created something!! Now to just go and enter it into Keesha’s challenge.

So which one do you like best?

I better run as I have 4 kids today and it’s so nice to hear them playing so nicely with each other but no doubt they will start to get hungry very soon.

Have a great day everyone!!

So that is (2) Lynda and (5)Yvonne so if you could both e-mail me with your snail mail addresses I can get your goodies out to you. Lynda you won the Fifth Avenue floral class and Yvonne the Felt flowers are all yours!!

So for the rest of you would you like me to tell you how I did it???

It was the wax resist technique I used and here is the instruction so you to can do it at home.

First cut a piece of wax paper bigger then your cardstock and crumple it up. Ensure you know which side is the waxy side! Uncrumple it slightly but don’t flatten it completely.

paper

Put a piece of clean scrap paper on your ironing board and place your glossy card stock glossy side up and your crumpled wax paper wax side down on top of it and then a piece of clean scrap paper on top. Iron briefly!

iron

Next brayer your gloss cardstock with your chosen colour, I have used pale plum. You need a few coats ensure you ink your brayer up well! Buff off with a tissue.

brayer

How easy was that? If you don’ t have a brayer you can always sponge your cardstock and buff with a tissue. Then you just have to complete your card.

I had a few people e-mail asking how I did the flower and thought I’d share that as well as again it was super easy!

First stamp your image on your pale plum cardstock in basic black.

stamp

Then take a sponge dauber and ink it up in elegant eggplant ink and gently dauber around the stamens in your flower.

dauber

Then crystal effects the stamens and add a very little bit of glitter and tada your done!

flower

Put it all together and this is what you get….

wax2

Supplies used for this card were :-
Pale Plum, Basic Black, Whisper White and Glossy white cardstock.
Basic Black, Pale Plum and mellow moss ink
Embrace life stamp set
Elegant eggplant grosgrain ribbon, blender pen, half pearl, crystal effects, dazzling diamonds, sponge daubers and dimensionals.

I hope this post wasn’t to long for you and thanks for playing along and sticking with me!

Don’t fall off your chair….

But I have finally managed to get in and do a challenge of Keesha’s. I know I said that was my goal to do all the challenges but life has just been getting in the way of stamping again! This weekend alone I have had 2 kids birthday parties to attend, a workshop to do and we had PMS (Pizza, Music and Stamping) here and it’s only Sunday lunch time!

Anywho enough excuses the challenge I was talking about is a sketch challenge……

makeesha-sketch-009

I had to make a boys card for this mornings party so thought I’d kill 2 birds with one stone so this is what I came up with.

liam

As you can see I have turned the sketch over and have used the Loads of Love stamp set. I got this set in my starter kit when I very first joined up and I must admit is has been very under used! The main reason being I don’t colour very well!! So I thought I’d pull it out and give it a work out! I actually used my chalks to colour it in and found it much easier!

You can’t tell by the picture but I did thump and bump the base card in Not Quiet Navy so it has added texture IRL.

Colours used are Not quiet Navy, Always Artichoke, choc chip and bashful blue.

Right best run I can hear small children yelling at a naughty dog in the rumpus room and no doubt some discipline is needed. (both children and dog!!)

Going Good!

Well I’m back again!! I keep disappearing don’t I?? Well we were away for the long weekend but I’m back in the swing of things now! I had made a new years resolution to participate in Keeha’s challenges and I only just made it in with this one!!makeesha-inspiration-challenge-3

Here is the inspiration supplied by Keesh and here is what I came up with!

inspirch

I have really wanted to use this DSP as it was the only sheet I had left in 2 of my Bali Breeze packs. I’m actually quiet pleased with how it turned out as I wasn’t sure where I was going as this is the first time I have actually done an inspiration challenge in my whole stampin career!

If you want to participate you have until 11.59pm tonight so get on it.

Another Challenge completed!

Well we have been at the renovating thing again or is it the demolishion thing? There is such a fine line! I ordered my new carpet on Saturday……yes I know DH won but the lino was so expensive and so much preparation would have need to be done with the floor cause we all know how flat it is…NOT!!

Well we have removed the first most offending piece of carpet on Saturday night and have tried to get rid of that step!

See our lovely concreting attempt!! I do apologize in advance as the date for the new carpet to be laid is the 4 of Feb so Tech class next month will be on bare concrete floors unless I can convince them of a special need!

As well as that we have painted the toilet and laid new flooring in there. That was interesting as DD 5 had the next door neighbour (boy 7) sleep over last night and there was no door on either the toilet or bathroom so there was a lot of don’t come in the hallway going on. I won’t show you the toilet if you want to see that you have to come visit me!!

OK enough waffle you came here cause you thought I’d done some stamping didn’t you?? Well in between all that I actually did. Keesh has set us a new challenge and this time it was a colour challenge so I thought why not!

Not my usual cup of tea but isn’t that the idea of a challenge! I could have gone male as these are male colours and I did try to use the Ute out of Loads of Love but I seriously can not colour that little ute in for love nor money so thought I’d go with what I know and love…..FLOWERS!!!

I ended up doing 2 cards as I thought card 1 may have been a little plain!

So these are my 2 cards. I won’t give colours cause dah they are above!!!

Card 1 I’ve used the embrace life stamp set and used sponge daubers to colour the flowers and then a little blender pen.

Card 2 I’ve used Oh So Lovely and Polka Dot background.

Hope you like them, I’m off to work on my slide show and get the bathroom doors there last coat of paint so I can have privacy again!!

See Ya

A Challenge completed!!!

Now I regularly have the best intentions of doing all sorts of challenges but you know what life is like, and I never get around to it! But this year I have resolved to try my hardest and do at least 2 a month! This time I have given the talented Keesha's a shot. This time is was a sketch challenge and I struggled a little as I really really wanted to use this new set from the summer mini that i just love but it's not my usual cup of tea!

So here's the Sketch…..

And here is my card. I'm not 100% happy with it and am thinking about going and having another shot at it later if I have time!

If you want to play along with this one of Keesha's challenges just leave a link to your example by the 15th of Jan on her website to be in the running to win a pack of Felt Fusion flowers (how generous is that!)

Right oh best get on with my other jobs as Neil is back at work so I have to pick up my act and be the Mum again! Oh how I miss him today!

Inspiration challenge!!!

Good morning all,

Isn't it a lovely Saturday morning? Well it is in my house it's working bee day at the school today so Neil and Jess have gone to that and as we had a late night last night Jackson is still in bed asleep. It's 9.15am!! Loving this peace and quiet so thought I'd spend the time wisely and get so things posted for you!

Now I have never uploaded a challenge of any sort from anyone's website but my very special friend Makeesha has been doing some great challenges over at our demo only website and is posting them on her website for all to see, and as I needed to make a card and a gift for a friend last night i decided to incorporate the two!!

Firstly here is the inspiration…… Isn't she clever to have it done up so professionally!!

This beautiful picture has come from Adair's (I think that's right!) and know thanks to keesh I want my bedroom redone just like this. LOL!

So then the really challenging thing is to come up with something…..as lovely as this. So I put my thinking cap on and came up with this!

Because I was making this for a reason I then also went ahead and made another love notes box like the ones I did for the teachers using another of Makeesha's tutorials.

Do you know this girl is so clever she is actually making up all her Make it Monday Ideas by herself. Measurements and all! Unlike me who goes from other peoples tutorials!!

So here is the completed package!

My friend who I made it for is not a stamper so I did not fill it with love notes but instead went to Dusk (candle shop) and bought some cute little candle holders and candles.

I'm really happy how these turned out and she really liked them to. I hope you do to!!

So a huge thank you to Makeesha cause without her both the box and the card would not have been. LOL!

Hopefully I'll back later with my card organiser to show you but for now I have to get ready for a birthday party and to say goodbye to a good friend who has just been here for a fleeting visit and is on her way back to Abi Daubi today. We'll miss you!!

Oo Oo I forgot to mention that this is made out of new stuff out of the new mini catalogue starting the 1st of December so stay tuned for more cause you now me I'm a kid in a candy store with new stuff!!!
