Another stamp a stack card!

Here’s a stamp set that hasn’t seen ink for a little while, I seem to gravitate my newer stamp sets when I’m prepping for class. It’s almost like taking the easy way out so this time I thought I’d pull out an old favourite, I really did once upon a time love Paisley and Posies but it was pushed aside when new goodies arrived!

I randomly stamped my images across the whisper white cardstock, I’ve used pumpkin pie, daffodil delight and crumb cake (which really isn’t my normal cololurs) but I’m happy with how they go together! I’ve edged the whisper white in crumb cake and mounted it on a piece of pumpkin pie. The cardbase I’ve used is crumb cake!

The Happy birthday sentiment is from Happy Birthday Gorgeous, cut out with an oval stitched shaped framelit and backed with a scalloped oval. With a little piece of crumb cake ribbon for decoration!

A Christmas in July card!

School went back today for half of my children, the small boy took great pleasure in waving his big sister off to school while still in his PJ’s…..His time will come when he goes off tomorrow! But with school resuming that means I’m back at work too, and that makes me sad! I love school holidays, I love the time with the kids, extra time to craft, go to the gym and catch up with friends I don’t get to see during the term! Terrifyingly returning to school also means we are half way through the year….Gasp! Not sure I’m ready for that lol!

But with all the fun of holidays it had completely slipped my mind that I had promised to share some of my cards we created the other night at my Christmas in July stamp a stack!

So this morning I thought I would share my favourite one! I still love the Star of Light stamp set that was in last years Occasions catalogue. I was so excited to see it carry over into this year’s main catalogue!

For this card I paired Bermuda Bay, Bronze and whisper white! It is such a great colour combo I love it…..I have even threatened to change up my Christmas tree decorations to this colour combo. Hubby is not keen as it would entail buying a white tree lol!

Rather non traditional colours don’t you think but so festive at the same time!! It feels great to get a start on some of my christmas cards, have you started yours yet?

Tranquil Tulips Sympathy card.

Thankfully I don’t have to make to many sympathy cards, it’s not the cards themselves I don’t like it’s the fact I don’t like the reason behind them! It means someone has lost someone they care about and that makes me so very sad!

I always think Sympathy cards need to be softer, more muted in colour! A friend asked me to make 2 sympathy cards for her and this is one of the cards I came up with! You may notice it’s a case of one of the cards I did for launch that you can see here. I’ve choosen some lighter colours going instead for Powder pink, early espresso and Pear Pizzazz.

The With Sympathy stamp is from the new to me set Flourishing Phrases, it’s actually got a few lovely sentiments in it that would be great for the front and inside of a sympathy card!

As tricky as they sometimes are I I really love how this sympathy card turned out, it’s so pretty in real life and I hope my friend who I made it for likes it to!

One of my fav’s is going!!

I spent sometime yesterday going through the retired list and pulling some of my soon to be retired stamp sets off the shelves….they look a little bare lol! Each retired set makes me a little sad as I have usually loved them at some time or another but coming across this set on the retired list made me a lot sad! I really do just love this set, it’s almost like my Bodacious Bouquet obsession I had many years ago {I’m sure some of you will remember it}

Anyway the Special Reason’s stamp set is on the retired list and hasn’t made it into the new catalogue so I will have to use it as much as possible before it goes!!

This was another of our stamp a stack cards from Monday night, I was forward planning and offered the “Happy Mothers Day” greeting from the Circle of Spring set.

I love the Elegant Eggplant and gold together it’s such a classic colour combination! I’ve also stamped the spots from gorgeous grunge as a background behind the flowers in Sahara Sand. Gorgeous Grunge hasn’t made it into the new catalogue either….devastation. I’m not sure how I am going to cope with that one, I use this set ALL the time!!

The rest of the card is pretty simple, I did stamp off the elegant eggplant flower so it wasn’t as dark, I also edged around the smaller die cut flower in elegant eggplant!

Tonights stamp a stack!

Today I thought I’d show you one of the cards that will be out on the table for tonight’s stamp a stack! I really do love the Lift me Up stamp set, it’s something a little different and can be used for so many different occasions!

Today I’ve paired it with some of the glimmer paper I received through sale-a-bration! (which has now finished)

I love the pairing of smoky slate and sweet sugarplum, it just looks so pretty together!

Balloon Adventures, rainbow reinker technique

I thought I would show you another of the cards that we made at technique class on Monday night. This card uses a stamp from the Balloon Adventures stamp set from the Occasions catalogue, I hadn’t previously inked up this stamp and am actually really happy with how the card turned out!

The technique itself was super easy and every time you do it, it comes out slightly different! Here I have used tempting turquoise, melon mambo and daffodil delight reinkers on shimmery white cardstock!! Such a cool technique!

All you need to do it put a spot of reinker on the edge of the cardstock and using a plastic card drag the ink across the cardstock! If you’d like to learn other techniques like this come along to one of my technique classes!

Monday Night’s stamp a stack!

We had heaps of fun on Monday night at our monthly stamp a stack! There were 6 different designs to choose from, as usual some were more popular then others!

This is one of my favourites as I am currently loving the Make a Medallion stamp set! The photo isn’t my usual brilliance (lol) It’s been raining and overcast since Sunday and it’s making if very difficult for me to photograph my cards…which is why the blog posts are few and far between sorry! This card was inspired by Sarah Berry‘s card I just loved the colour combination, although I didn’t read it very well and used Daffodil delight instead of Crushed Curry but it still came up really pretty in real life! I love this stamp set so much, it’s so fun to play with and pretty easy to line up without the need for a stamp a ma jig too!

Techniques galore here this week!

I thought I best show you the other card we did at Technique class on Monday night! This one was super easy to create and had 2 techniques on it! Although calling them techniques is possibly a bit of a push one is probably more of a style of card then a technique and the other a bit of a tip or trick that I thought was great to share!!

If you hadn’t noticed I am loving the Detailed Dragonfly thinlits, I can’t actually believe I put of buying them for so long! This card was so tricky to photograph, I think I took about 20 shots and I’m still not happy with this one. But I had to let it go otherwise I would never have gotten it up here to share with you!

How cool do those dragonflies look flying across the page! To adhere them to the card so that I didn’t have unsightly glue all over the back I used a little tombow on a sponge and just sponged it over the backs and check out how nice they look from the other side!

Well take my word for it there is no glue showing…..that’s hard to capture that on a photo lol!

A new technique ready for Monday’s class!

A while back the super talented Rebecca O’Gorman from Heart and Craft shared a gorgeous card using some of our thinlits as a stencil it was a really cool technique. At the time I really wanted to give it a go but just didn’t get around to it so last night as I was thinking about Monday’s technique class this came to mind so I thought I’d give it a go!!

This is what I came up with!

I can’t guarantee this is the card we are going to make but I think we will definitely be doing this technique in class! You will even go home with your own stencil so you can reproduce it again and again! How cool is that!

Another balloon card!

You may have already noticed but once I like a stamp set I tend to come back and use it a lot! The Lift me Up stamp set is no exception! I really do like these set and I love that it is a little different to the typical flowers that I usually go for!

Today I have paired it with some DSP from the Cup Cakes and Carousels DSP pack! Love the colour combination again I love Bermuda Bay as a colour!

I’ve used Very Vanilla cardstock instead of Whisper White and it gives a really nice soft look!

It was super quick and easy to put together, I lay down a strip of DSP about an inch wide and then layered the Early Espresso under the Very Vanilla front panel and popped it up on dimensionals. My only tip is don’t stamp your smaller balloons behind the cut out one…..it looks funny. Ask me how I know lol!

Today was super busy and super exciting at the same time, we had to be down for team briefing by 5.30am this morning and Jess didn’t race till 9.30 so we had plenty of time to cheer on friends and team mates. Jess’s race was super exciting and kept us on our toes. She came out of the swim in 3rd place, jumped a place in transition and came out onto the bike in 2nd, lost a few spots on the bike and came in, in 6th but went out in 5th. She held her position in 5th on the run and has secured a spot on the State team for Nationals. We are so proud and super excited for her making Nationals for the first time ever and even better 2 of her training buddies made it to so they are all very excited!

Anyway I best get off to bed as it’s another early morning tomorrow with relays.

Watercolour love!

At last night’s technique class we focused on the water colour pencils, which I love!! All my ladies just love to colour…don’t you?? LOL.

This card was so super simple to put together and l think the colours just look amazing. The more vibrant you want the colours the more pencil I’d lay down, these watercolour pencils are so creamy and blend so easily, I am certainly no water colour expert and even I can manage them! I found the trick to it is to have a pretty wet brush and mix the colour first and then move it about, that way you take out all the pencil lines and you are left with a gorgeous colour wash.

The other great thing about the watercolour pencil’s is that once they have dried you can’t blend them again, this is great if you are watercolouring an image with a lot of different elements! But if you’d like to add more colour I would suggest taking the colour straight from the tip of the pencil.

Hope these tips help you out, I really am enjoying playing with the pencils.

Watercolouring a solid image!

So Alisa Tilsner posted a facebook live video the other day about watercolouring a solid image and it turned out divine! She used the Special Reason’s stamp set which you may have noticed I am very fond of, so of course I had to give it a go! I’m so glad I did as it was so much fun and turned out so pretty!!

I’m not sure I have ever said it about waercolouring before but I really enjoyed it, I’m really not one to colour in but this was seriously very easy to do as the watercolour pencils are so creamy and you barely need to touch them with water and they blend like a dream!
