A week of fond farewells!

Sadly we are entering our final week of Sale-a-bration, the biggest and best time of year to be a demonstrator, recruit or customer of Stampin’ Up! This year they have out done themselves once again with their selection of goodies up for offer! I am going to be so sad when they go as I have loved using each and every set I managed to get my hands on!!

On Friday evening we did a Farewel Sale-a-bration class and over the next 7 days I am going to share the cards we made! As I have mentioned before I often start designing with a sketch, challenge or case of a card to get going and Thursday evening/Friday afternoon is no exception. The card we made started out as a case of a card I had previously created and came across on pinterest a few days ago!

So here is the original card…..

Feels like a million years ago I created this card! Here’s the one I came up with on Friday….. I may have been a little slow with this card as I was only designing it while my ladies arrived lol! {worth the wait tho apparently}

I just adore everything about this card, from the amazing glimmer paper, detailed doilies stamp set, 2 tone doilies! It was a popular one on Friday night, so much so I ran out of bit s to make it!

What do you reckon would you make it?

Playing along with #GDP078

I think I may currently be a little obsessed with the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set, I simply keep picking it up to create with! I think this may be a recurring theme though, looking back on past posts talking about  favourite stamp sets lol!

Anyway this morning before getting ready for work I popped down to my craftroom to make a card for my blog and it was still on my desk from creating my customer thank you cards, so when I saw the sketch offered by the Global Design Project this week I knew immediately I wanted to use my dragonflies oh and some glitter paper…..I just love that too:)

This is the sketch we were given this weekSo cute hey? Because I wanted to use a piece of my chevron paper from +________ I had to flip the sketch as I’ve used most of it up and these are the only tiny pieces I have left! I think I need to order another pack!!

This is what I came up with, I cut out the sale-a-bration sweet sugarplum glimmer paper with the solid dragonfly and then cut some black cardstock with the detailed thinlit and then layered them  together! How pretty does it look? I embossed the circle with the Hexagon dynamics textured embossing folder, it looks so good IRL!

I wasn’t 100% happy with the word placement but it’s grown on me!! What do you think?

Another Medallion Card!

I really shouldn’t promise things on here! As per usual life got in the way of my plans and I didn’t make it to my craftroom at all! So I am sharing a card I created the other day using the Make a Medallion stamp set……I wouldn’t want to completely let you down :)!

I saw a very similar card created by Kylie Bertucci quiet some time ago using a completely different stamp set and I thought I would give it a try with the Make a Medallion set.

I’ve used the embossing resist technique, first I embossed the image with white embossing powder, then using a sponge dauber around the edges I sponged the pool party ink over the embossed portion. After I had done that I then came along and stamped the little edge pieces in just versamark.

Super simple but I really like the effect it created! What do you think? Would you give it a go?

Make a Medallion….. I just can’t help myself!

As soon as I saw the Make a Medallion stamp set in the new Sale-a-bration I knew I wanted it and knew I’d love it!!

Have you seen it yet? It is awesome seriously, check out this video here to see what I am raving about!

What do you think? Would you use it? I have teamed it with some of the glitter paper that is also in the new Sale-a-Bration catalogue! It is so sparkly and pretty! If you haven’t seen the new 3 items in the catalogue click here to see it!

Here is the card I came up with it……

I do really like it and it was so super easy to use, I think wood mount would be trick but lining it up with the photopolymer  was a breeze! I used 3 of the stamps to create this medallion and I didn’t even mess it up once…small miracle for me lol! Here’s a closer look of just the medallion

And how about that glimmer paper….sorry I’m pretty chuffed with the new offerings from Sale-a-Bration if you can’t tell lol!

Don’t miss out, place a qualifying order today so you can get your awesome Make a Medallion stamp set or glimmer paper or both hehehe!!

Hey, Chick I think your super cute!

I’ve come back to the Hey, Chick stamp set as I think it’s super cute and I really do enjoy playing with it! I saw a similar card somewhere on pinterest and thought I’d put my spin on it. When I’m lacking mojo I quiet often head over to pintrest and see what everyone else is creating and then go from there.

What about you where do you go for inspiration? If you don’t already go on over and follow my pinterest boards. I often post the cards I find when I’m hunting for inspiration and they may help you as well!

Follow Me on Pinterest

You came for my card though didn’t you? So I best get on and show you:-)

This card was super simple to whip up! I stamped my images in Basic Black stazon and then  done just a little light watercolouring. I then layered the strip of DSP from the Urban Underground DSP pack. I then tied the bakers twine on around the card and mounted it directly on to the card base!

Did you know on my blog if you wanted to buy any of these items you can just click the image below and it will take you to the item in my online shop?

Happy stamping

Hey Chick, check me out!!

I wasn’t sure on the Hey Chick stamp set, I wasn’t sure about the colouring in, the images or what I would do with it. So I sat down and decided to have a play. I have completely changed my mind, I love it.

The images are super easy to colour with our new water colour pencils, and the images are super cute and something a bit different from flowers which is awesome….{I do love flowers but sometimes need a change}

This is one of the cards I created, I love the Sweet Sugarplum and Smoky Slate together if you hadn’t noticed lol!

Results and Oh So Succulent love………

It’s been a busy weekend here in the Pike household, Jess had her second Australian Youth juniors competition in Robina on Saturday. Thankfully the weather cooled and didn’t reach the forcast temperature! She did really well, in her first race  it was raining  and very slippery she had a fall on her bike on one of the turns but she managed to get up put the chain on and finish the race coming in 10th place. Later in the day in her second race she had a fabulous race and placed 3rd. Resulting in an overall position of 7th for the day.

Last week I finally ordered the Oh So Succulent stamp set and I have been dying to ink it up! I have seen so many cute things made with it and I really wanted to have a go! But of course as soon as I had a chance to play my mojo took a short hiatus lol! Anyway I’m not 100% happy with this creation and I’m hoping to have another go soon!

Seriously tho how cute are these succulents I could just stamp and cut them out all day! I also am a bit partial to 2 step stamping as it makes you look like a colouring in pro lol!

The colours I have used on this card are Sweet Sugar Plum, Peekaboo peach, Crumb Cake and Pear Pizzazz. I have stamped the outline image first and then stamped off on to some scrap paper and then stamped the background image over the outline to give the two tones effect with one stamp pad! Clever hey? Check out the link below to see how many pieces you get in both the stamp and framelits the potential with this stamp set is endless!!

Hope all the kids returning to school have a fabulous week!

Love Sparkles Thank You

In November I attended  Stampin’ Up! Onstage here in Brisbane, it was 3 days of hanging out with friends (old and new) who love to craft as much as me and talk about all things paper, ink and stamps. I was lucky enough to win one of the prize patrol prizes. It was a stamp set called Love Sparkles, it’s pretty cute but has sat neglected on my shelf since returning home.

I thought it was time for it to get off the shelf and get inked, I chose to use the Thank You stamp as it fitted perfectly in one of the medium oval stitched shape framelits {did you read yesterday you can buy them again now??} I think it turned out really pretty, I love the soft colours together and this sheet of DSP is really versatile it comes out of the Falling in Love pack.

Do you recognise what other stamp set I have used? Yes I know I just can’t help myself. It’s the small flower out of the Special Reason stamp set, I had no idea when I purchased it just how much I was going to love it! You can’t tell in the photo I have some Wink of Stella on the centers of the flowers.

I’m pretty happy with how my photo turned out as well, I have finally found a perfect spot to take photo’s. I have been seen traipsing around the yard in search of the perfect location {quiet often mumbling}. But yesterday I was taking some photo’s of kids toys for sale in the backroom and the lighting was great, there was no wind blowing the card over and no blue tinge! {which have been my recent photographic issues} Winning….well for now anyway let hope it’s as good tomorrow when I photograph the next card!

What do you think have you noticed my photo’s are getting better?

Finally got my craft on!

With the best intentions I never seem to get into my room till late and then the creativity doesn’t seem to flow till even later, I think I made this card around midnight lol! Needless to say I had to wait until morning to photograph it! Perhaps it’s the bedtime deadline that makes me actually get down and create……I do always perform better under pressure. What’s your favourite time to craft? I tend to get lost in time at night when the house is quiet.

Here is last nights card, I wasn’t actually sure where I was going to start. There was a few challenges I looked at but nothing really grabbed me, but then I was working out paper shares and came across this super cute piece of DSP in the Falling In love pack and that’s where I started!

I just love the Special Reason stamp set, with it’s textured rubber it’s just gorgeous, this time I’ve paired it with the speckles out of Gorgeous Grunge {another go to stamp set of mine}. Here I have used Sweet Sugar Plum, Calypso Coral, Mint Macaron and Tip Top Taupe ink.

I’m putting it out there who’d like to come and craft with me next Friday the 13th of January? We’ll get some pizza’s and craft the night away. $10 buy in {to cover pizza & nibbles} and then I’ll put out some cards you can make {$2 each} or you can bring your own projects and work on them.  You will have access to all my new stamps as well as the old ones plus, inks, punches ect! Turn up anytime from about 6.30pm and get your craft on!

If you could RSVP by Wednesday the 10th that would be fabulous.

Hope to see you here

Ooops! Change of plans!

Yesterday I had the best intentions, I had my list and I was going to sit down and create some cards to send out and a few for future blog posts. I had just got out my Special Reason stamp set and Stylish stem framelits, here’s a short video so you can see the potential with this set!! I have shared 2 sneak peeks with it already so needless to say I’m a fan lol!

Anyway I was about to set to work and I heard a loud bang and hubby cursing out the front, when I went to investigate this is what I found!

A rock had flicked up and hit the fixed panel of the glass door while he was mowing, ooops!

We debated how we were going to get all the glass out, which was pointless as we no sooner put the towel down and the most of it just fell out by itself lol! I did have my priorities straight, the Stampin’ Up! sticker was saved and only got one piece of glass stuck in my finger doing it!

Thank goodness for insurance as by about 9pm that evening we had someone come around and fix it!

Taa daa it’s all back to how it was! No one would ever know…..just make sure you wear shoes for a little while just in case we have missed a stray piece of glass!

So after all the excitement I never got to sit down and play so I have nothing to show you!! So with that I am off to do some stamping in the hope I’ll have something to attempt to photograph tomorrow for you.

Case of Balloon Adventures take 2!

This is my second go of making this card using Balloon Adventures, the first time I cased it directly out of the new occasions catalogue just changing up the colours. This time I simply added an extra panel and I’m much happier with it, I didn’t like the ribbon being wrapped around the main card front. It’s something that just doesn’t sit right with me, no real reason lol!

This card was quick and simple to put together and you could make it in any colour combination you wanted. The great thing is that it also comes with a matching set of thinlits or a matching punch.  So you have the choice between the 2, I personally like the thinlits as it has a really cool pop up die for the inside of your card!

Hope you are all enjoying the holidays and not working to hard if you’ve had to go back to work!
