Playing along with #GDP078

I think I may currently be a little obsessed with the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set, I simply keep picking it up to create with! I think this may be a recurring theme though, looking back on past posts talking about  favourite stamp sets lol!

Anyway this morning before getting ready for work I popped down to my craftroom to make a card for my blog and it was still on my desk from creating my customer thank you cards, so when I saw the sketch offered by the Global Design Project this week I knew immediately I wanted to use my dragonflies oh and some glitter paper…..I just love that too:)

This is the sketch we were given this weekSo cute hey? Because I wanted to use a piece of my chevron paper from +________ I had to flip the sketch as I’ve used most of it up and these are the only tiny pieces I have left! I think I need to order another pack!!

This is what I came up with, I cut out the sale-a-bration sweet sugarplum glimmer paper with the solid dragonfly and then cut some black cardstock with the detailed thinlit and then layered them  together! How pretty does it look? I embossed the circle with the Hexagon dynamics textured embossing folder, it looks so good IRL!

I wasn’t 100% happy with the word placement but it’s grown on me!! What do you think?

Another Medallion Card!

I really shouldn’t promise things on here! As per usual life got in the way of my plans and I didn’t make it to my craftroom at all! So I am sharing a card I created the other day using the Make a Medallion stamp set……I wouldn’t want to completely let you down :)!

I saw a very similar card created by Kylie Bertucci quiet some time ago using a completely different stamp set and I thought I would give it a try with the Make a Medallion set.

I’ve used the embossing resist technique, first I embossed the image with white embossing powder, then using a sponge dauber around the edges I sponged the pool party ink over the embossed portion. After I had done that I then came along and stamped the little edge pieces in just versamark.

Super simple but I really like the effect it created! What do you think? Would you give it a go?

More Sale-a-bration goodness! Glimmer paper sigh!

Today has been a crazy day, with work and kids and the gym! I’m not sure if you all know but I do crossfit and usually I love it! I am currently taking part in the crossfit open at my box and tonight was a real struggle. It involved a movement I am not very good at, at a weight I couldn’t do so in the 8 minutes I only recorded 7 reps:(…….I feel a little defeated this evening to be honest! But in true crossfit style my box mates cheered me on and encouraged me to get that 7th rep…..for 7 minutes and 30 seconds lol!I knew there was a reason I loved this sport!

Anyway enough about my crappy afternoon and on to much more exciting things I had to share this video about the fabulous Glimmer paper assortment pack that you can earn by placing a qualifying order during sale-a-bration!

It is so divine but super tricky to photograph well!

Tomorrow I plan to make up some cards with it and the Make a Medallion stamp set! Hope I’ll have an assortment of goodies to show you!

Have your placed a qualifying order and chosen this as your gift?

Techniques galore here this week!

I thought I best show you the other card we did at Technique class on Monday night! This one was super easy to create and had 2 techniques on it! Although calling them techniques is possibly a bit of a push one is probably more of a style of card then a technique and the other a bit of a tip or trick that I thought was great to share!!

If you hadn’t noticed I am loving the Detailed Dragonfly thinlits, I can’t actually believe I put of buying them for so long! This card was so tricky to photograph, I think I took about 20 shots and I’m still not happy with this one. But I had to let it go otherwise I would never have gotten it up here to share with you!

How cool do those dragonflies look flying across the page! To adhere them to the card so that I didn’t have unsightly glue all over the back I used a little tombow on a sponge and just sponged it over the backs and check out how nice they look from the other side!

Well take my word for it there is no glue showing…..that’s hard to capture that on a photo lol!

Do you follow me on Facebook? Pop on over and follow me, I’d love to see you there! If you just click on the Facebook icon in my tool bar it will take you directly to my page! I’d love to hit 200 followers!!

Hope to see you at my next class on the 20th March it’s a stamp a stack so you get to make 9 cards 3 of 3 different designs, but please  don’t forget to book in so I know how many to prep for!

Make a Medallion….. I just can’t help myself!

As soon as I saw the Make a Medallion stamp set in the new Sale-a-bration I knew I wanted it and knew I’d love it!!

Have you seen it yet? It is awesome seriously, check out this video here to see what I am raving about!

What do you think? Would you use it? I have teamed it with some of the glitter paper that is also in the new Sale-a-Bration catalogue! It is so sparkly and pretty! If you haven’t seen the new 3 items in the catalogue click here to see it!

Here is the card I came up with it……

I do really like it and it was so super easy to use, I think wood mount would be trick but lining it up with the photopolymer  was a breeze! I used 3 of the stamps to create this medallion and I didn’t even mess it up once…small miracle for me lol! Here’s a closer look of just the medallion

And how about that glimmer paper….sorry I’m pretty chuffed with the new offerings from Sale-a-Bration if you can’t tell lol!

Don’t miss out, place a qualifying order today so you can get your awesome Make a Medallion stamp set or glimmer paper or both hehehe!!

But don’t forget to use this months hostess code unless your order is over $250.00!Thanks for stopping by

Celebrating a new life!

On the weekend I was lucky enough to celebrate the impending birth of a friends baby! We had a wonderful morning chatting, eating and playing some really cute games…..no tasting yucky baby food thank goodness! They don’t know the sex of their baby so I need to make something gender neutral! It’s been a while since I have needed a baby card and I only have one stamp set for babies…..although I was looking mournfully at the new Moon Baby set in the Occasions catalogue wishing I owned it!

This is what I came up with!

I just love the little onsie, what baby doesn’t at some point wear one! The colours I have used are So saffron, Smoky slate and whisper white! I was pretty happy with how it turned out, especially as I made it on the fly about 45 minutes before I was due to be at the baby shower….ooops!

Have a fabulous Monday!

Hey, Chick I think your super cute!

I’ve come back to the Hey, Chick stamp set as I think it’s super cute and I really do enjoy playing with it! I saw a similar card somewhere on pinterest and thought I’d put my spin on it. When I’m lacking mojo I quiet often head over to pintrest and see what everyone else is creating and then go from there.

What about you where do you go for inspiration? If you don’t already go on over and follow my pinterest boards. I often post the cards I find when I’m hunting for inspiration and they may help you as well!

Follow Me on Pinterest

You came for my card though didn’t you? So I best get on and show you:-)

This card was super simple to whip up! I stamped my images in Basic Black stazon and then  done just a little light watercolouring. I then layered the strip of DSP from the Urban Underground DSP pack. I then tied the bakers twine on around the card and mounted it directly on to the card base!

Did you know on my blog if you wanted to buy any of these items you can just click the image below and it will take you to the item in my online shop?

Happy stamping

A new technique ready for Monday’s class!

A while back the super talented Rebecca O’Gorman from Heart and Craft shared a gorgeous card using some of our thinlits as a stencil it was a really cool technique. At the time I really wanted to give it a go but just didn’t get around to it so last night as I was thinking about Monday’s technique class this came to mind so I thought I’d give it a go!!

This is what I came up with!

I can’t guarantee this is the card we are going to make but I think we will definitely be doing this technique in class! You will even go home with your own stencil so you can reproduce it again and again! How cool is that!

Bookings are essential so if you would like to join us on Monday the 6th of March at 7.30pm please click the link below and register.

I look forward to seeing you on Monday evening

Birthday card for my big girl and #GDP076

So this happened today, my lovely big girl turned 14 today. It seems like only a blink of an eye since she was being born! Anyway enough being all soopy!

Late last night as I was trying to whip up a card for Jess I popped across and checked out the GDP and saw it was a case the designer challenge and I just loved Kylie’s card so thought I would try and incorporate the two!!

Check out Kylie’s creation here

I used red and white wrapping paper on her pressies so that dictated my colour scheme for the card {it’s got to match right??}, I’m not 100% happy with it but she thought it was great!

I coloured the black die cut dragonflies with Wink of Stella so they are really sparkly in real life. What do you think? If you were a 14 year old girl would you like this card?

It was pretty easy to put together. I used the paint splotch our of Work of Art and of course added some smaller dots from Gorgeous Grunge both in Sahara Sand….I can’t help myself honestly! It’s your birthday was stamped in Basic Black archival ink {leave it to dry a few moments before you layer it up as it seems to smudge a little if you do it immediately}

I layered that panel on Basic Black cardstock and then popped it up on dimensionals.

I then added the die cut dragonflies and some enamel dots!

Been a busy few days!

I’m so sorry for being MIA for the last few days, it was so incredibly busy with my little athlete. On Saturday she participated in the Triathlon relay, the kids love this as it’s a team event, Jess’s had the swim leg with her team and came out of the water in 2nd place. All the girls had an awesome leg and ended up placing 3rd overall in the relays which was super exciting!

We then drove home from Hervey Bay, got up early on Sunday morning and headed out to Raby Bay for the final in the Gatorade Triathlon series, Jess managed a first place in the race and first in the series overall. So it was worth it. We all crashed in the afternoon and have been trying to catch up ever since. As you can see I didn’t have alot of spare time time to craft. But I’m going to make up for it now though:) It’s the girls birthday tomorrow so today’s first task is to make her a birthday card!

But first I’ll share another card I was working on yesterday, I was playing with the Balloon Adventure Stamp set and the Cup Cake and carousel DSP, aren’t the colours just gorgeous?

The card itself is super simple but I just love the designer series paper I used, the colours are so me!

Have you got someone you could give this card to? Make a comment below and I’ll do a random draw and send it out!

Don’t forget today is the last day to place an order and have one of this months Thank you cards sent out to you…..they are a surprise this month, I’ll share them either tomorrow or the next day! I’m pretty happy with how they turned out they are using the gorgeous Dragonfly Dreams stampset!!

Another balloon card!

You may have already noticed but once I like a stamp set I tend to come back and use it a lot! The Lift me Up stamp set is no exception! I really do like these set and I love that it is a little different to the typical flowers that I usually go for!

Today I have paired it with some DSP from the Cup Cakes and Carousels DSP pack! Love the colour combination again I love Bermuda Bay as a colour!

I’ve used Very Vanilla cardstock instead of Whisper White and it gives a really nice soft look!

It was super quick and easy to put together, I lay down a strip of DSP about an inch wide and then layered the Early Espresso under the Very Vanilla front panel and popped it up on dimensionals. My only tip is don’t stamp your smaller balloons behind the cut out one…..it looks funny. Ask me how I know lol!

Today was super busy and super exciting at the same time, we had to be down for team briefing by 5.30am this morning and Jess didn’t race till 9.30 so we had plenty of time to cheer on friends and team mates. Jess’s race was super exciting and kept us on our toes. She came out of the swim in 3rd place, jumped a place in transition and came out onto the bike in 2nd, lost a few spots on the bike and came in, in 6th but went out in 5th. She held her position in 5th on the run and has secured a spot on the State team for Nationals. We are so proud and super excited for her making Nationals for the first time ever and even better 2 of her training buddies made it to so they are all very excited!

Anyway I best get off to bed as it’s another early morning tomorrow with relays.
